Speakeasy, International waters" is located in this section along with other coastal images. Each photo in the Speakeasy series has the original shot and an edited vintage version.
I swim daily and am passionate about shooting in or near water, since that is where I tend to find myself, no matter where I am in the world.
Public beaches are one of my favorite places to shoot candidly. It does not invoke a nostalgic feeling for me. It's simply a beautiful feeling of a place for the masses to gather separately and yet together to enjoy respite from the daily grind of life.
There is another section called WATER FUN, where non-coastal images are located.

DAY AT THE BEACH, Galveston, TX. | The newbie snow cone guys never wear shirts the first time out. I love the sweet youthful innocence of that. This shot and the one below it have been edited to evoke a playful carefree time.
DAY AT THE BEACH_2, Galveston, TX | The pink freighter in the left background, waiting in line to port, caught my attention when the snow cone man walked by. Beaches in the Galveston have grayish brown sand. Our water there is rarely blue. Kinda rugged and beautiful in its own way. Beaches in S. TX are white sand with blue waters. I love them both.
SPEAKEASY_1, International Waters, Florida | I shot the Speakeasy Series in 2020. At that time, they were the only remaining vacant speakeasies built during prohibition in international waters near Miami. The clubs were used by locals, celebrities, high-profile personalities, and law enforcement to drink legally, make deals, gamble, and listen to music. The water was low around the structures; one could easily stand and party on. We sailed through deep water to get to them.
