DIGITAL abstract

FLORIDA SPEAKEASY, International Waters. | I shot the series in 2020. The photo series of the speakeasy's built in the 1920's is located in the Coastal Section. This one is in Abstract because I used AI to play with it a bit for my personal use. My intention is not for my photos to look like paintings. I like creating fantasy with photos that I take, depending on how it speaks to me.

SECOND CHANCES | One thing that helped, the first year of Covid, was walking 5 miles every day in the neighborhood. On my two year 3,600+ mile journey, I shot things on the ground, not there the day before. After a big rain, this head, on the ground was wet and had been run over. I cleaned her up - digitally speaking - as a tribute to the many lives lost during Covid and the ones who got a second chance after recovery, if not a little worse for wear, yet still beautiful. 

BISCAYNE BAY LIGHTHOUSE STEPS_1, Florida | When I was editing this shot, I was going for moody. Highlighting the brass hand knobs, to become more pronounced and shinier as they ascend is reminiscent of the years we climb adding polish to our gate of life.

BISCAYNE BAY LIGHTHOUSE STEPS_2, Florida | This is the same steps as Lighthouse_1. The more I thought about this piece, the more I wanted to bring out the ghostly presence one can feel in the lighthouse. You can almost hear the footsteps and murmurs of past keepers and visitors. I use AI in some of my editing. It is a tool and not the creator. This piece took many apps, tools and more than a week to create.

BAM POW WHAM | While at an IKEA, I stopped for a cup of coffee and saw these Batman glasses sitting on one of the tables. Feeling so bad for the kid who left these cool glasses behind, after shooting them, I left them with the staff in hopes the family would return to get them. Who wouldn't want these cool glasses back? The first Lense depicts the traditional batman and the second is bat hanging upside down. Creating pop art out of found object is one of my favorite things to design. 

BEACH UMBRELLAS_MODERN COASTAL |  I shot this in 2010 in 105-degree Texas heat, under two beach umbrellas side by side, using the Hipstamatic app. I re-edited the photos in 2025 to emphasize the umbrellas taking on the shape of cubes. In this heat, the mind plays tricks that gives me great ideas, as I wait for technolgy to catch up.
